Less Than Perfect Me

Silly little artwork by your's truly!

Less than perfect me is…

Well…
P e r f e c t !

“Choosing authenticity is an act of resistance.”

When I first read this quote by BrenĂ© Brown, my mind thought of resistance  towards others, or towards the norm. Like a salmon, swimming upstream. But really, the resistance is more towards ourselves.  The part of us that likes to play it safe.

When we choose to be totally authentic, we are mustering up all the courage we can to be imperfect. It means being compassionate towards ourselves and completely accepting who we are – struggles and all.

For me, this is most difficult when I am not feeling well. Resisting the urge to press forward, make the best out of it, cover up my pain… is one of the most daring things I do. It means being vulnerable. Asking for help. Setting boundaries. Being real.

But I have also found, that it is during these days that I truly find joy. Joy that comes from the grace found in just Being.

This weekend I hope you are able to be perfectly Imperfect!

Peace.

..........love your writing, your wisdom, the beauty of the depth of your words....

here something I just read....for you!

Breaking the silence takes courage. I know of no woman who has tapped her inner source of power without going through an almost palpable veil of fear, often feeling as though her very life would be threatened by telling the truth. The journalist Vivian Gornick says, “For a woman coming off fear is like an addict coming off drugs.” I don’t know any way around this fear except to name it and then go through it with the help of others who have also experienced it and come out on the other side.
..........
And then, the magic starts. As you allow the life-force to guide your life, the exhilaration comes. Once you break through this fear and begin living your life according to your inner wisdom, you find you have everything you need to create a life for yourself that is based on freedom, joy, and opportunity. I have seen this repeatedly and have experienced it myself. So take heart. There is great hope, joy, and love – all around us, all the time - when we clear ourselves of past habits, change or thinking, and embrace our power.

Thank you for the kind words!!

As the mother of seven daughters, I spend a lot of time trying to understand the makings of that fear. It just seems that if we can convince our daughters (and ourselves) that the wisdom that lies deep within is something to be proud of, understood and celebrated - than there is less risk in being honest. Our fear comes from being "found out" - which implies that what lies within is something to be ashamed of. Yes, it makes us vulnerable. But if I never risk saying I love you - than I miss out on being loved.
There IS great hope and joy and love all around us (and within us), all the time. One of the greatest gifts I have ever received is the knowledge that everything I need I have in this very moment. An untouchable, timeless and eternal presence. Simple and wise.

Thank you again for your words. The timing was perfect!
